On 21st September 2024, in celebration of World Bamboo Day, students and staff from the B.Voc program embarked on an educational visit to the renowned Auroville Bamboo Centre. This trip was an exciting opportunity for students to witness the innovative and sustainable applications of bamboo, a material gaining importance in eco-friendly construction, crafts, and design.
During the visit, participants explored a variety of demonstrations, showcasing bamboo’s versatility in fields like architecture, furniture-making, and renewable resources. Experts at the Auroville Bamboo Centre shared valuable insights into the sustainable harvesting and processing of bamboo, emphasising its role in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
